Why imagination is more important than knowledge !?
“ Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”
-Albert Einstein
In today’s competitive and aggressive world, we are always tricked to believe that knowledge is more important than imagination. Children are encouraged to adapt the rote learning method to memorise things, instead of using their own creativity and imagination to understand concepts. It is high time that this should change. Let us take a look at the reasons why imagination is more important than knowledge and not the other way round:
- Imagination boosts our creativity
Imagination often helps to boost creativity. Even while reading stories, we all tend to imagine the characters portrayed in the novel. Of course, the writer’s character which she/he had imagined is also different from what others imagine. And later if a movie is adapted from that book, we often forget that character which we had imagined and the actor/actress which has played the role of character fits in our mind, thus killing our creativity.

“ Innovation is where imagination meets ambition.”
- Imagination leads to innovations
Imagination leads to novel ideas, which enhances our knowledge. Let’s look at one such instance, where imagination along with hard work and dedication, lead to an invention.
Back then scientists had concluded that, “Nothing heavier than air can fly above the ground. ” Even Lord Kelvin, the president of The Royal Society of England, who was a powerful man of science had made this declaration. But, Wright Brothers decided to explore with their imagination and not let their dreams stop due to this limited knowledge. They went on to invent aircrafts in 1885. Of course, imagination was the foundation of this innovation and later knowledge and ambition helped to the duo to prove other people wrong!
- Imagination takes us anywhere
Though reality is limited, imaginative world is unlimited. Our power to imagine is unbelievable. Imagination allows us to travel anywhere in the world or even in fictional places without actually leaving our place. If we wish to go to Switzerland, we can just close our eyes and imagine and enjoy the blissful experience! Or we can even go and study in Hogwarts!
- Imagination gives us hope
Everyone has their ups and downs, and things don’t always turn out the way we want. But as long as we have our imagination, we can think of solutions and ways to cope with whatever life throws at us. Remember, imagination is the power to shape your reality and boost your knowledge. When we imagine good things, it builds a positive aura around us and helps us to boost our confidence and remain optimistic.
